Compliance & Governance Lead
The Compliance & Governance Lead will be pivotal in ensuring the organisation adheres to statutory and industry-specific requirements for quality, health, safety, and environmental (QHSE) standards. This role is responsible for managing the company's accreditations and overseeing QHSE performance, ensuring the business continues to operate efficiently while meeting all necessary compliance obligations. Additionally, the role provides administrative and operational support to the Directors and acts as the Office Manager for the York site.

Role Overview: The Compliance & Governance Lead plays a critical role in managing QHSE matters, liaising with auditors, maintaining accreditations, and implementing best practices. Alongside compliance responsibilities, this role ensures the York office operates smoothly, supports key administrative tasks, and provides personal assistance to the Directors. The position demands strong leadership, meticulous organisation, and the ability to drive improvements while managing operational and administrative challenges effectively.
  • Monitor and advise on all QHSE matters to ensure statutory and contractual compliance.
  • Manage QHSE processes, maintaining accreditations such as ISO14001, ISO9001, and ISO45001
  • Liaise with auditors to secure and sustain certifications.
  • Conduct audits, recommending and implementing improvements.
  • Manage emergency procedures, including office checks, signage, PPE, and COSHH controls.
  • Report on QHSE performance to Directors and statutory authorities.
  • Oversee the company’s Health & Safety portal, including risk assessments and incident reporting.
  • Act as the QHSE Subject Matter Expert.
  • Office management, including answering calls, managing correspondence, and booking travel.
  • Prepare documents for bids and tender submissions.
  • Arrange and support meetings, including preparing agendas and taking minutes.
  • Provide PA support to Directors as needed.
Experience & Skills Required
  • Experience in a Social Impact-related role or organisation. Monitor and advise on all QHSE matters to ensure statutory and contractual compliance.
  • Manage QHSE processes, maintaining accreditations such as ISO14001, ISO9001, and ISO45001.
